In this jam-packed episode of SCVTV’s Community Corner, co-hosts Dave Caldwell and Carrie Lujan don’t waste anytime kicking things off with Lujan providing a firsthand account of recent meaningful community events, including the State of the City, Circle of Hope Tea and Finally Family Homes Poker Tournament. And it wouldn’t be spooky season on the set without a little Halloween fun. Find out which Santa Clarita Streets made it into our costume segment! More from This Week’s Guest Lineup: We then get an entertaining and colorful sneak preview of the upcoming 10 x 10 Variety Show at The Main. Award-winning belly dancer Marta Kunstas and local comedian Jeff Frame are two of the 10 fantastic performers who’ll be on stage for 10 minutes sharing their talents and skills for a special one night only production. The event will take place Nov. 8, beginning at 8 p.m. Up next, we meet the new captain of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Captain Brandon Barclay brings with him nearly 20 years of law enforcement experience. He shares his journey as a deputy with the Los Angeles Country Sheriff’s Department and also gives us a glimpse into his leadership style and the initiatives he’s bringing to the table. Following Barclay, we’re joined by Jason d’Autremont, principal of William S. Hart High School, and Casey Cuny, Valencia High School teacher, who take us on a deep dive into AI and the essential role educators play with the emerging technology. The Hart District has implemented an AI Taskforce to prepare teachers, students and parents for tech and applications that will undoubtedly become more advanced. We’re then joined by Brittany Markham and her son Damian, who was diagnosed with ASMD Type A – often referred to as Baby Alzheimer’s. Markham shared a promising update on Damian’s prognosis. She also gave us a fun sneak preview of this year’s Damian’s Not-So-Haunted House and Bake Sale. Proceeds from the event support the Wylder Nation Foundation, whose mission is to fund research to find treatments that would slow the progression of ASMD Type A. Next up, there was a lot of monkeying around when Animal Tracks Founder Stacy Gunderson and Animal Tracks Ambassador Danyelle Sanders gave a glimpse of its Wild Hearts Gala. Check out the handful of monkeys Gunderson brought along with her, including Tara, who appeared on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” among other blockbusters. Proceeds from the event will support Animal Tracks’ mission to rescue exotic animals, raise awareness about wildlife and discourage the exotic pet trade. Finally, local transportation just got a whole lot easier with a new Santa Clarita Connect app!
