SCVTV's Community Corner | Hart District Takes Lead in AI Literacy with New Task Force
|
|
It’s safe to say AI is here to stay. And in order to keep up with this emerging technology, the William S. Hart Union High School District has initiated the formation of an AI task force. Jason d’Autremont, principal of Hart High School, goes into detail of how the task force will help prepare staff, students and parents on the proper and effective way to use AI. The creation of the task force was in preparation for the District’s spring 2026 launch of Google Gemini, an AI feature through the Google platform. Casey Cuny, Valencia High School teacher, has already implemented AI in the classroom and describes the technology as a “thought-partner.” He encourages his students to use AI as a skill to learn and not as a tool for cheating. Cuny, who was 2024 California Teacher of the Year, shared examples of how proper AI usage in the classroom can boost critical thinking skills and student engagement.
