When the Newhall chapter of Guitars for Vets lacked the support it needed from the national organization, coordinator Bruce Geiger and guitar instructor Tom Lamog made the difficult decision to close it down.

However, at the request of loyal supporters, the two set out on a mission to continue providing the healing power of music to local heroes. Their efforts resulted in Geiger and Lamog co-founding the new Santa Clarita Veterans Guitar Alliance, which offers guitar workshops and lessons to veterans suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. And thanks to technology, the organization now offers lessons online.

Through this experience, veterans embark on a musical journey of healing and connection. The Alliance already has plans on expanding beyond the guitar and include lessons for a variety of instruments.

The group is currently in need of new and gently-used acoustic guitars, pics, strings and other accessories.
