Opening Segment: TMU’s Maddy Traylor Breaks Team Records; Residents Encouraged to Take Part in Community Needs Survey

Co-hosts Carrie Lujan and Dave Caldwell kick things off with exciting news from The Master’s University women’s soccer team. Junior Forward Maddy Traylor scored eight goals in a span of two games. Her performance broke two team records and also tied a third. Traylor so far has 26 goals, which broke a record set by Sarah Riojas of 21 goals in 2000. She has also recorded 59 points, shattering Riojas’ 44 points also set in 2000. Not to mention, she tied Heather Halstead’s 1997 record of five goals in one game.

Her efforts didn’t go unnoticed, though. Traylor earned the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Player of the Week and was also named Conference Player of the Year. The Master’s Head Coach Esteban Chavez was named the conference’s Coach of the Year in just his third year on the job.

The co-hosts then shifted gears by highlighting the city of Santa Clarita’s all-important Community Development Block Grant funding. The funds benefit lower-income members of the community. Residents are encouraged to share their input in the just released Community Needs Survey, which assists the City in prioritizing the SCV’s biggest needs.
