The nationwide nonprofit Family Promise was founded in New Jersey in 1986 and has since grown to 200 chapters across the United States, including Santa Clarita. The organization provides interim housing and support services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Family Promise of SCV’s new Executive Director, Carmen Garcia, shares why the organization is so close to her heart. Her journey as a teen who experienced homelessness is what fueled her passion to help others in the same situation.

Kevin Petrie was named president of the Board of Directors in August of this year and explains the fulfillment he feels being part of an organization that values its commitment to helping those less fortunate.

Garcia also highlighted Family Promise’s Harvest for Hope campaign – a meaningful opportunity to sponsor a family at-risk of homelessness and provide them with a warm meal and safe place to stay during the holiday season.
