In this Community Corner mini episode, student guest hosts Aditya Mahajan from West Ranch High School and Conner McCormick from Golden Valley High School rewind through Season 6, revisiting segments from 2025. The episode includes conversations on the SCV Children’s Books Authors & Illustrators organization, Samuel Dixon Family Health Center, the importance of donor breast milk, and Circle of Hope.

Things start off at Episode 17 where Veronica Stanley-Hooper and Adalgisa Nico from SCV Children’s Books Authors & Illustrators share what makes inclusivity and diversity so important in making books relatable and exciting for children. They also talk about how giving children books instead of tablets or iPhones can help them feel seen and heard.

Then, we go to Episode 3 with Samuel Dixon Family Health Center’s Philip Solomon and Amanda Hills to talk about a recent grant that allows nonprofits to expand their behavioral health programs and discuss the local youth’s current state of mental health.

Next, Episode 13 takes us to Henry Mayo’s Lactation Program Coordinator, Shannon Kliewer, who tells us the importance of donor breast milk and how it can save the lives of infants born with Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), a serious intestinal disease and one of the leading causes of death in neonatal care units. Shannon also shares the crucial role milk banks have in collecting and distributing donor breast milk.

Then things close with Episode 28 as Mary Petersen and Tricia Rasplicka talk about the launch of Circle of Hope’s published book, “In Awe of Becoming,” which features collections of poems written by their Creative Writing class, and how the proceeds will go towards continuing to assist Santa Clarita residents who are facing cancer.
