City Celebrates William S. Hart Museum Grand Reopening

The city of Santa Clarita held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 10, 2026, to celebrate the grand reopening of one of SCV’s most treasured historical sites, the William S. Hart Museum at Hart Park. This milestone marks six years since residents have been able to access the museum which was originally home to silent film star William S. Hart.

Located within scenic Hart Park, the Hart Museum offers a unique opportunity for guests to step back in time and explore the life and legacy of William S. Hart, as well as the rich history of the American West.

The Mansion remains largely preserved with his original furnishings, artwork, personal belongings and artifacts. Visitors will have the opportunity to view an impressive collection of Western art, Native American textiles and memorabilia from Hart’s career in early Hollywood. The home also features unique items gifted by notable figures such as Wyatt Earp and Will Rogers.

Following Hart’s death, he generously bequeathed his home, belongings and surrounding land to the public, ensuring future generations could enjoy and learn from this historic site. Today, the city of Santa Clarita proudly serves as the steward of the park, preserving its legacy for the community.

The reopening is the result of a strong partnership between the city of Santa Clarita and the County of Los Angeles. Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger played a key role in supporting the transfer of ownership and ensuring the continued preservation of the site.
