SCVTV operates the City of Santa Clarita’s public television channel and studio facility. SCVTV staff members and volunteers generate original, hyper-local content for the channel. The SCVTV Media Center is the central hub for local businesses, schools and local organizations to connect with their target audience.

 

SCVTV is looking for part time producer/ video editor to create documentary videos, talk shows, arts & cultural programming, etc. Topics include historical events, profiles on community leaders, and local feature segments. These programs are comprised of archival still photos, video, voiceover, and interviews.

 

Duties:

The responsibilities of a video editor/ producer at SCVTV include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with the senior producer & director to source and edit video clips from SCVTV archives and other local resources

  • Assist in the coordination of productions including shooting schedules and coordinating interviewees & crew

  • Source and edit music / SFX from the SCVTV audio library

  • Utilize Adobe Photoshop and keyframing for still images

  • Conceptualize and create graphics and titles

  • Maintain excellent file organization and naming

  • Maintain excellent time management skills

  • Ability to research content with minimal assistance

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have 2 years of experience in digital TV or film production

  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud products. Specifically Adobe Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects

  • Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, strong work ethic

  • Have a passion for storytelling and editing

  • Be able to present successful examples of attractive and compelling finished video programs

  • Experience with Google Drive

  • Experience in videography, lighting, nonlinear video editing, set design, studio/field production

  • Flexible schedule preferred

  • Efficient in problem solving

  • Excellent judgment and ethics

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a positive attitude and a willingness to be self-starting, creative and motivated.

  • Preferred experience in working with local government, school districts and nonprofits

Internship & Volunteer Opportunities

Position: News & TV Production Internship

 

SCVTV internship opportunities provide undergraduate students with hands-on experience in both news reporting and TV production fields.

 

SCVTV interns must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress, dynamic environment. Staff and interns must have a positive attitude with a willingness to be self-starting and motivated.

Duties:

 

The responsibilities of interns at SCVTV include, but are not limited to:

  • Positing government, nonprofit, local press releases and video content to the website

  • Assisting production staff with TV shows and productions

  • Assisting News staff with writing scripts, finding content and producing the daily newscast, as well as assisting with coverage of local events

  • Monitoring social media for news stories and content

  • Learn to create news packages and TV show segments

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have some experience in TV production or journalism

Position: Broadcast Engineer Internship

 

SCVTV internship opportunities provide undergraduate\ students with hands-on experience in broadcast engineering for the news & TV production industry.

 

The Intern will have the opportunity to work alongside a broadcast engineer and understand how a broadcast facility is built, maintained and operated.

 

They will learn video and audio signal paths and how all the equipment interfaces to one another. They will learn how to operate all the studio equipment in a true production environment. Build video and audio cables and construct broadcast systems.

Duties:

The responsibilities of interns at SCVTV include, but are not limited to:

  • Interface with studio engineering on all aspects of studio broadcast equipment in a live production environment.

  • Adjust and operate SMPTE Fiber HD studio cameras.

  • Connect mics to talent and operate an audio mixer.

  • Operate a Broadcast 20 input HD switcher, creating live effects.

  • Properly set-up a Chroma Key / Green Screen.

  • Set-up and operate a full HD Flight Pack that includes Cameras, Switcher, Graphics, Audio Mixer and Instant Replay system.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have some experience in basic electronics, audio and video systems.

  • Preferred coursework in television production.

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university internship program

  • Excellent communication skills, positive attitude, strong work ethic

  • Flexible schedule preferred

 

Skills Preferred:

  • Experience in electronic soldering, crimping and working with hand tools is a plus.
