Antonovich Committee to Preserve Trails in Northwest San Fernando Valley
LOS ANGELES COUNTY — To enhance and preserve equestrian and hiking trails in the northwest portion of the San Fernando Valley, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved Supervisor Antonovich's motion to establish a committee to help update the County's Master Plan of Riding and Hiking Trails.
"The County Los Angeles will work closely with the community, the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, and the City of Los Angeles to develop a comprehensive plan to map, improve and expand our trail system for equestrians, hikers and trail enthusiasts," said Antonovich.
This action ensures that dedicated trails are identified in the County's Master Plan and authorizes the Department of Parks and Recreation to condition developers to provide easements, dedications, and improvements to preserve long-standing trails, eliminate "gaps" and develop connections among existing trail networks.
Supervisor Antonovich, a strong supporter of the County's equestrian lifestyle, has added more than 300 hundred miles of trails during his service on the Board of Supervisors.
