SCV Boys & Girls Club Now Selling 2009 AT&T Champions Classic Tickets
New website created, dedicated to ticket sales
SANTA CLARITA, CALIF — The Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley will be the exclusive organization to sell tickets for the upcoming AT&T Champions Classic Golf Tournament in the Santa Clarita Valley.
John Mahaffey, President of the Club and Craig Peters, President of the Club's Foundation (the fundraising arm of the Club) announced the collaborative effort with the AT&T Champions Classic to be held from March 9-15, 2009 at the Valencia Country Club in Santa Clarita. Ticket sales will benefit the work of the local Boys & Girls Club that was founded in the Santa Clarita Valley 40 years ago.
Mahaffey said at the announcement, "It is exciting to be a part of one of only thirty annual PGA Champions Tour events across the country. The week-long tournament, featuring the top players on the PGA Champions Tour, contributes an estimated $19.2 million each year to the greater Los Angeles area, with a direct local impact in the Santa Clarita Valley of $8.3 million." Peters added, "We are very pleased to participate in order to assist our 'kids' with their potential growth and learning experiences."
Some of the PGA tour greats scheduled to play in the 2009 event include defending champion Denis Watson, 2007 winner Tom Purtzer and 2006 winner Tom Kite, as well as Ben Crenshaw, Craig Stadler, Raymond Floyd, Gil Morgan and Des Smyth.
Tickets to the 2009 AT&T Champions Classic are on sale now through the Boys & Girls Club – both online and by telephone. A special website will make it easy for golf fans to purchase their tickets in advance for the March event via a secured process.
Visit the new site at www.championsclassictickets.com to choose from a variety of affordable tickets packages. The Boys & Girls Club also has a dedicated phone line at 661/254-3303 for additional information regarding tickets.
The local Club serves almost 3,500 boys and girls ages 7 to 17 in three Clubhouse settings located in Newhall, Canyon Country and Val Verde. To learn more about the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley, go to www.scvboysandgirlsclub.org or simply click on the Club logo in the top right hand corner of the new Champions Classic Tickets website home page.
The beautiful Valencia Country Club had its public opening in 1965 and is recognized as one of Southern California's premier golfing venues. The course was masterfully designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and is best known for its pristine putting surfaces and traditional hole designs. Visit www.valenciagolfclub.com for more information.
