WHAT: Falsework in preparation to Construct the new overpass will require a full directional freeway closure of southbound followed by northbound Interstate 5 at Laval Road/Wheeler Ridge (Exit 219B).
WHEN: Southbound I-5 Closure: Thursday, March 26, to Friday, March 27, 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Monday, March 30, Tuesday, March 31, and Wednesday, April 1, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Northbound I-5 Closure: Wednesday, April 1, Thursday, April 2, to Friday, April 3, 11 p.m. to 4 a.m.; Monday, April 6, to Tuesday, April 7, from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m., weather permitting.
DETOUR: Traffic will be reduced from (4) lanes to (1) lane at the Wheeler Ridge INTERCHANGE (Exit 219B) where flaggers will redirect traffic back onto Interstate 5 at Laval Road. Once falsework is erected, northbound and southbound travel lanes will be redueced from (4) to (3) lanes until Summer 2009.
Griffith Construction Company began the $6.3 million project in September 2008 and anticipates completion by late summer 2009. The project will construct a new bridge at the Interstate 5 Wheeler Ridge Road Interchange, modify the existing northbound and westbound Laval Road off-ramps and signalize the intersection at Laval Road East at Wheeler Ridge Road.
