Weekend Survey Work on I-405 May Cause Slowdowns
LOS ANGELES As part of the preliminary work for the northbound San Diego Freeway (I-405) High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV, or carpool) lane from the Santa Monica Freeway (I-10) to the Ventura Freeway (U.S. 101), the contractor will be surveying the freeway in both directions, early mornings only, beginning 4 a.m. Saturday, June 6 until 5 a.m. Monday, June 8.
The work will be performed as follows:
Saturday, June 6, from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. northbound and southbound I-405 from Venice Boulevard to Moraga Drive;
Sunday, June 7, from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m., northbound and southbound I-405 from Sepulveda Boulevard to Burbank Boulevard;
Monday, June 8, from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m., northbound I-405 from Wilshire Boulevard to Skirball Center Drive.
Intermittent moving lane closures should be expected. Survey crews will be accompanied by CHP vehicles; an arrow board will redirect traffic.
Contractor for the $1 billion design/build project is Kiewit Pacific Company. When this project completes, estimated in spring 2013, it will complete the HOV lane system on I-405 in Los Angeles County, making it possible for motorists to ride in the carpool lane in both directions from the San Fernando Valley to Orange County.
