Chamber To Offer New Web/Electronic Procurement Service
When googling the word "Procurement," one finds the following definition: Procurement is the acquisition of goods and/or services at the best possible total cost of ownership, in the right quantity and quality, at the right time, in the right place and from the right source for the direct benefit or use of corporations, or individuals, generally via a contract.
In a new "Value Added Service" approved by the Chamber, the organization will make available to its members the opportunity to find information about procurement contracts for bid by public agencies. This means that entities, such as the City of Santa Clarita, will make available to the Chamber its list of goods or services that the City will be seeking competitively sourced bids. Each week in the SCV Chamber eNews, you may look for a quick link entitled "Invitations to Bid" for information about bids on goods or services being taken by the City of Santa Clarita. The Chamber hopes to expand the list of public entities and agencies that must "procure" bids from the private sector during the coming months.
Within the Invitations to Bid page, is a chart that shows the Bid Number, Subject of the Bid, the Final Date to Request Information on the Bid and the Closure Date for the Bid. Detailed information on each of the bids can be obtained by downloading the information from the City’s Purchasing website at www.santa-clarita.com/purchasing.
