Operation Chamber Membership Seeks New Recruits
Don't Miss the Action!
Click to Connect Santa Clarita, CA (August 2008) — The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce will kick off its recruiting event, Operation Chamber Membership, at a press conference at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Chamber's offices.
The Chamber conducts a membership drive each year but this time the staff is taking a new tactic. Chamber officials are calling upon existing chamber members to recruit new members from Sept. 1 to Oct. 12. Participants will be eligible for spectacular prizes.
"Memberships are the lifeblood of this organization and I am delighted that we are allowing our existing members to help the organization grow through their efforts by inviting their neighbors, colleagues or vendors to join this world-class Chamber of Commerce," says Chamber President/CEO Larry Mankin.
Chamber Chairman of the Board Charlie Gill, who will serve as commander-in-chief during the recruitment period, will brief attendees about membership drive details during the press conference that takes place at 28460 Avenue Stanford, Suite 100, Santa Clarita. Also on the agenda: Light refreshments, and a short Operation Chamber Membership video presentation.
"At a typical cost of under $1 a day, our members benefit from a wide range of programs, involvement and networking opportunities to assist them in building and sustaining their businesses," says Gill. Annual memberships start at $305.
Gary Choppé, chairman of the Operation Chamber Membership Task Force, says he would like to see membership double from its existing base of about 1,700. "But, also, the membership drive is about having fun and creating a competition that will give the chamber new blood," says Choppé, president of Choppé Advertising Group.
Here's the game plan: After you sign up a new member, register at www.chambermembershipops.com to track the drive's progress. You will get a sweepstakes entry form to win prizes for each new member you bring in. There are three prize levels:
Level One: Sign up 1 to 5 new members and receive "Chamber bucks" and a chance to win upgraded prizes valued at $50 to $200, such as Edwards Valencia movie tickets and dinner for two.
Level Two: Bring in 6 to 9 new members or $2,000 in memberships and you may win prizes such as a three-month Spectrum Club membership or a booth at the Chamber's Home & Business Expo Oct. 10-12 at College of the Canyons.
Level Three: Sign up 10 or more members or $3,000 in memberships and you could win a seven-night Princess Cruise or a trip to China.
In addition, all participants who bring in a new member will be named in upcoming issues of the Chamber's monthly publication, Valley Business News. More information will be announced at Chamber events, including Business after Hours (BAH), Good Morning SCV, business grand openings and Chamber committee meetings.
The SCV Chamber is a not-for-profit organization that has been promoting and supporting local businesses for 84 years. With nearly 1,700 members, the business organization is the seventh largest Chamber of Commerce in the Los Angeles region.
The Chamber, which hosts many community and networking events, represents a broad spectrum of businesses from home based to the Valley's largest employer, Six Flags Magic Mountain.
The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce is located at 28460 Avenue Stanford, Suite 100, Santa Clarita, CA 91355. 661-702-6977; www.scvchamber.com.
