Operation Chamber Membership Extends Mission Deadline
Santa Clarita Valley (October 2008) — There is still time to sign up new members and become eligible for fabulous prizes now that the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce has extended the deadline for Operation Chamber Membership. The new deadline is Oct. 31, 2008.
Chamber membership task force officials agree the extra time is necessary in order to complete the mission assigned to existing members asking them to recruit more area businesses. Those who sign up new members then become eligible for an array of prizes donated by Chamber members.
"Because a number of members were on their way to increased prize levels for new memberships, the Chamber decided to extend the current new-member drive to October 31 to allow more members to participate in the prizes," said Charlie Gill, Chamber chairman of the board and commander in chief for the military-themed membership drive.
Operation Chamber Membership already has one winner. Sue Reynolds, of NewMarket Careers, won an all-expense paid trip to Costa Rica, courtesy of The Sanctuary Resort & Spa, during a recent contest at the Chamber to sign up the most new members in one day. There are plenty more great prizes to be awarded, including a trip to China, a Princess cruise, gift cards and other offers from Chamber businesses.
The Chamber, with a current membership base of about 1,700, encourages local businesses to join especially now in challenging economic times.
"Given the economic conditions our country currently faces, the Chamber is adopting the theme of "Now…More Than Ever!" to encourage local businesses to join the chamber of Commerce and benefit directly from the Chamber's wide range of services. Whether it is business referrals, current legislation advocacy, environmental or health and wellness issues or networking for your business, the Chamber has a myriad of resources available to its members," said Gill.
Here's how Operation Chamber Membership works: Pick up a membership packet from the Chamber. After you sign up a new member, register at www.chambermembershipops.com. The site, monitored by Gary Choppé, membership chairman, tracks the drive's progress.
Signing up a new member earns you "Chamber bucks," usable at chamber events, and a chance to win the following prizes:
Level 1 (1 to 5 new members): Gift cards to Edwards Valencia, MB2 Raceway, New Moon, Buca di Beppo, Applebee's, Salt Creek Grille, Marie Callender's, Elephant Bar and Westfield Valencia Town Center.
Level 2 (6 to 9 new members or up to $2,000 in memberships): Win a three-month Spectrum Club membership, a round of golf with friends at Valencia Country Club or TPC at Valencia, a DVD player from Wilshire Home Entertainment or a stretch limousine for three hours from Lightning Limos.
Level 3 (10 or more new members or up to $3,000 in memberships): Win a seven-night Princess Cruise or trip to China.
