The total hike will be just 6.1 miles. Bring water, lunch (optional), snacks. Meet inside the gate in the first parking area on the right side. This lot is free. Any other lots are $5.00. Please meet in the parking lot by 8:15 for an 8:30 departure.

We will follow the presentation with a hike in Placerita Canyon to the Waterfall-Meet in the amphitheatre at Placerita Nature Center before 8:30. Bring water. RT is 5 miles.
February 28 Slide Mountain is 10-12 miles round trip on a steep trail. Adventure pass required for parking in the Angeles National Forest. Bring lots of water, lunch, snacks, and hiking poles will be helpful.
Community Hiking Club's Nature Series The Community Hiking Club is pleased to welcome Rob Remedi on February 21 to Placerita Nature Center at 8:30 AM for this month's program and hike. Rob is a naturalist guide with 20 years of experience of leading both adults and children into the great outdoors. He teaches wilderness skills, plant edibles (and poisons), and animal tracking and signs. He has led outings for MRCA, the Forest Service, Sierra Club, Conejo Recreation and many more. Robert's love of the outdoors and enthusiastic style captivates and inspires all who experience his classes. I asked Gina Wileman about Robert's classes, and here's what she had to say, "Experiencing nature with Tracker Robert Remedi is always invigorating! Thanks to his insatiable appetite for the outdoors, Tracker Robert continues to share his passion with others. My 8-year-old son and his friends enjoy hiking with Tracker along dirt trails, scaling hillsides, jumping over streams, looking for wildlife, and emptying their dirty shoes once the day is done.
Having a naturalist for a teacher has been a blessing on so many different levels. Tracker Robert has taught the kids to respect animals in their natural habitats, admire wildflowers, appreciate our food and water cycles, and recognize the resources that surround us for survival."
Home School Adventure Club The home school kids of Santa Clarita hike with Dianne every week to learn about the environment around them, eco-problems, geology, the local oil industry, fossils, plants, animals, animal corridors, and much more. Please join us any time for a hike! We always need help!! If you'd like to help out on these weekly hikes, feel free to join us at any time. All hikes are scheduled for 2:30 in the afternoon. February's hikes are:
Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26. Email Dianne for locations.
Let Me Sail Let Me Sail is beginning a new hiking and fitness program in January. Let Me Sail is a wonderful organization offering fabulous activities to mentally and physically challenged youth and adults. We have been lucky enough to be included in these activities, and are offering them 2 free hikes a month to supplement their other fitness opportunities. The hikers enjoy their time in the sunshine and love to see bugs, butterflies and other little treasures that nature has to offer. We'd love to have you come on a hike with us and experience the treasures of the heart that they have to offer us. All hikes are scheduled for 10-11. This month's hike is Feb 10. Please email Dianne for location if you'd like to help.
