Nature Series: Birding by Roger McClure

We are scheduled to see a great Bird Show by Roger McClure who will present live Owls, Hawks, Kestrels and more before we hike with Roger to look at the birds on the trail. Bring snacks and lots of water. Lunch is optional. Meet in the Placerita Nature Center Amphitheatre at 8:30 for the program.
We are so fortunate to have Roger McClure show us the birds of Placerita. He is an avid bird watcher and has "birded" throughout the United States, in Canada, Costa Rica, Kenya, the Amazon Basin, the Galapagos Islands, Peru and Romania. He is a docent at Placerita Nature Center, caring for their live birds, showing them to school children during school tours, and presenting them to the public every Saturday at Placerita's 1:00 p.m. Animal Presentation. He leads a bird walk at Castaic Lake on the first Saturday morning of the month, at the Nature Center on the second Saturday, and at Towsley Canyon on the third Saturday.
He will show all the birds — from the smallest, an American kestrel, to the largest, 'Kia,' the red-tailed hawk. He will include O.J., the great horned owl, and 'Hopie,' the barn owl as well. He'll tell everyone about each bird, answer questions, and lead us on a hike in the canyon as we look for wild birds. Don’t miss this wonderful event!
Meet at the Placerita Amphitheatre before 8:30. Bring water if you will be going on the hike with us!
