Council Member Marsha McLean Reelected to County Library Commission
On January 8, 2009, Santa Clarita City Council Member Marsha McLean was re-elected by the City Selection Committee to a second term as a Municipal Representative on the Los Angeles County Public Library Commission for the Fifth Supervisory District.
Councilmember McLean is one of two municipal representatives from the Fifth Supervisorial District, which includes the Santa Clarita Valley. The County Library Commission is comprised of 20 members 10 appointed by the Board of Supervisors and 10 (two per district) appointed by the City Selection Committee. The ten municipal representatives are all elected Councilmembers from cities in Los Angeles County.
"It's an honor to be re-elected to the Public Library Commission," commented Councilmember McLean. "Libraries are vital to the well-being of our society andI take great pride in serving Santa Clarita, and pride that my work with the Commission will enhance County Library Services."
The mission of the Los Angeles County Public Library Commission is to advise the Board of Supervisors and the County Librarian on matters of library policy, administration, operation, and service; to obtain public input and to make suggestions and recommendations on any matters which have come to the attention of the Commission regarding the County Public Library System.
