Names Being Accepted for Central Park's Youth Grove Memorial
The City of Santa Clarita's Blue Ribbon Task Force is currently accepting names to be placed in the City's Youth Grove Memorial in Central Park. The deadline for submissions is Monday, February 9, 2009.
Since 1980, more than 100 Santa Clarita youths lost their lives to traffic related incidents. The Youth Grove provides a safe, centralized location for community members to remember loved ones lost. It is a grassroots effort supported by the City and the Blue Ribbon Task Force dedicated to Santa Clarita youth 24 years of age and younger who have died in traffic-related incidents.
Those wishing to submit names to be placed in the Youth Grove may do so by completing and signing a release form, available at santa-clarita.com/blueribbon or via phone at(661) 250-3731 , and mailing it to City of Santa Clarita, Community Services Division, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita, Ca 91350.
The City and the Blue Ribbon Task force, formed in 2000 to educate the community about teen alcohol, drug and tobacco use, hope that the Grove will serve as a powerful reminder to prompt citizens to vow to be more mindful and responsible behind the wheel.
For more information on the City's Youth Grove or Blue Ribbon Task force, please call Tess Simgen, Community Services Analyst, at (661) 250-3731 or visit santa-clarita.com.
