City of Santa Clarita Ranks Among Top 15 Retail Markets in California
The recently released 2009 California Retail Survey ranked the City of Santa Clarita among the "Top 15 City Retail Markets in California," based on analysis of 2002-2007 annual retail sales volume and 2008 year-end estimates. The City of Santa Clarita consistently ranks higher than the cities of Santa Monica, Los Angeles and Pasadena in this annual report covering 272 of the largest cities in California.
The 2009 California Retail Survey ranks the largest cities in California based on dollar volume, growth rates, and sales per outlet. The publication is a respected source of market intelligence for corporate and government executives with analysis and rankings based on actual sales results from retailers in the state.
"In the last few years Santa Clarita has become the place to do business in Southern California," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "Our close proximity to Los Angeles, growing population, and support of local enterprises allows us to continuously provide opportunities for new and existing businesses to thrive."
Santa Clarita is not immune to the effects of the national economic slow-down, but residents still enjoy new, recently opened big-name retailers with even more on the way. This continued growth during one of the most difficult economies in years is largely due to our City Council's pro-business approach. In fact, the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation named Santa Clarita "The Most Business Friendly City in Los Angeles County."
Santa Clarita's strong local economy and high quality of life, hallmarks of the community, are largely dependent upon a successful retail climate.
"It is important for residents to remember that dining and shopping here in our City directly supports our local community and businesses so please think local first," said Mayor Ferry. "By continuing to promote our local retail businesses, I am confident the City of Santa Clarita retail market will continue to rank among the Top 15 in the State.
