Extraordinary Volunteers Recognized at City's "Greatest Gift" Award and Recognition Ceremony
Annual Awards Ceremony and Dinner Commends Local Volunteers
The City's Newhall Community Center hosted the "Greatest Gift" Volunteer Recognition Dinner Tuesday, February 19. Mayor Frank Ferry, City staff, school administrators, teachers and parents attended the annual award ceremony, which recognized outstanding City volunteers.
Volunteers play a key role in Community Center programs and activities, including coaching, tutoring and mentoring. In 2008, they donated hundreds of hours of their personal time and resources to support Center youth and families.
Councilmember Laurie Ender and Parks Commissioners Ruthann Levison and Duane Harte, were also in attendance at the 2009 "Greatest Gift" ceremony where 17 volunteers received recognition for their excellent participation and assistance with the Community Center.
"It is so important that we recognize our local volunteers for all the work they do," said Mayor Frank Ferry, whose son also received an award for his work with the Community Center. "Their contributed time, expertise and efforts are a vital part of what makes Santa Clarita's youth programs a success."
