Local Boarders, City Council Prepare to Drop In on Skate Park Grand Opening
Inaugural Event to Feature Pro Skaters, Exhibitions and More
The Santa Clarita skate community is buzzing with anticipation as the Grand Opening of the new City Skate Park quickly approaches. On March 28 at 3:30 p.m., the City will put on a Grand Opening worthy of the facility- one of the premier skate parks in Southern California. Mayor Frank Ferry, the City Council and the community are set to gather at the event, which will feature exhibitions by professional skaters from across the country, vendor displays from some of the skating world's top suppliers, the world's biggest skateboard and, yes, more.
The Grand Opening, designed to celebrate the new 40,000 square foot park, will commence with exhibitions from professional skaters, including the World Industries, Active and Hydro skate teams. Other professional skaters scheduled to attend include legendary favorites like vert ramp superman Christian Hosoi and superstar Chris Gentry, whose Frontside 540's brought innovative style to the forefront of skating.
"Local skaters would normally need to travel hundreds of miles to see this kind of explosive skating event," said Mayor Frank Ferry, "The Grand Opening of the City Skate Park brings professional skaters, exhibitions, skate apparel, goods and more right to their neighborhood."
Local companies are getting in the mix, too and will set up shop at the Grand Opening event. Skate greats like Active, ValSurf, Billy's Boardshop, Pharmacy Ride shop and more will hawk goods and give away free prizes ranging from helmets, pads and apparel to trucks, decks, wheels and complete boards. Pharmacy Ride shop will also bring their skate DJ to spin songs while attendees shred and the Santa Clarita Lion's Club will provide hamburgers and hotdogs, as well as City-provided beverages, to quell skaters' hunger and thirst.
Other vendors attending the Santa Clarita Skate Park Grand Opening include local businesses such as Newhall Coffee, Valley Cycles, Wow Skateboards, Woodward West, Woodz, Inc., Rock Solid Promotions, World Industries, BAMBOOSK8, The Hundreds, Hydro Skateboards, Ignition Skate Ministry & Siren Skateboards, Napsac Sports, You Scared? Industries and S-One Skateboard Helmets.
