Local Youth Commended at 'Hero of the Week' Ceremony
The City of Santa Clarita's Anti-Gang Task Force will host a Hero of the Week Recognition ceremony on Wednesday, April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Activities Center. The event honors 32 local youth for showing leadership and overcoming obstacles in their lives.
The high school and junior high students who will be recognized are selected by their own teachers and principles throughout the year from local City schools for their dedication, work ethic and actions
"These 32 kids are being recognized for their hard work and outstanding character and we are pleased to commend them," said Mayor Frank Ferry. "Their actions set a positive example for their peers and they are role models for the entire community."
The students will receive commendations from United States Congressman Howard Buck McKeon, Senator George Runner, Senator Tony Strickland, Assemblyman Cameron Smyth, Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael Antonovich, the City and local businesses.
