Sports Complex Offers Open Play Pickleball Recreational Classes for Seniors
Adapted Indoor Tennis Game Utilizes Brainpower over Brawn
The City of Santa Clarita invites residents 50 years of age and older to participate in Open Play Pickleball on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the City's Sports Complex Gymnasium. The classes will be held weekly beginning May 6, 2009.
Open Play Pickleball is a slower paced indoor tennis game geared towards older adults who enjoy recreation that utilizes strategy over power. Classes are $2 for adults under 55 and $1 for adults 55 years of age and over.
"The City prides itself in providing quality recreational opportunities for residents of all ages," said Councilmember Marsha Mclean. "Open Play Pickleball is a low-impact activity that allows seniors to enjoy a physical exercise that utilizes brainpower over brawn."
The Sports Complex Gymnasium is located at 20870 Centre Pointe Parkway. For more information on Open Play Pickleball, please contact Judy Baker, Recreation Supervisor, at (661) 250-3758 or visit www.pickleballcental.com.
