Newhall Community Center Opens Pride Week with Neighborhood Clean-up Project
The City's Newhall Community Center members hosted a Neighborhood Clean-Up on Saturday, April 11 to kick off Santa Clarita's Pride Week, which continues through Saturday, April 18. More than 160 local youth and adult volunteers worked together to beautify the neighborhood adjacent to the Community Center.
Volunteers collected trash, assisted in graffiti removal and more during the event held in the neighborhood near the Newhall Community Center. City graffiti removal staff was on-hand to provide supplies and support while Center staff supervised the volunteers.
"The Neighborhood Clean-Up was an exemplary start to Pride Week," said Hope Horner, Community Services Administrator. "The Community Center volunteers got together to clean up the community and take a sense of ownership about the neighborhood- which is exactly what Pride Week is all about."
The Neighborhood Clean-Up Project was held in conjunction with Pride Week, which allows Newhall Community Center youth to give back to the community. The event gives local residents and Community Center members the opportunity to take an active part in keeping their neighborhood clean.
