City's Second 'One Valley One Vision' Study Session Scheduled
On June 17, 2008, the second of five Planning Commission Study Sessions of this calendar year will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the City Hall Century Room. At this Tuesday meeting, staff will present the Draft Conservation and Open Space Element from the Joint Valleywide General Plan, One Valley One Vision (OVOV). Officials from the local water purveyors have been invited to attend the meeting as well as local City community members.
Although this Planning Commission Study Session will present and discuss both the Conservation Element and the Open Space Element at the meeting, these elements are considered two separate of the seven State-required elements of the General Plan.
"The Conservation and Open Space Element reflects the City's objectives and policies for protecting and utilizing this Valley's natural resources. The element establishes policies for the long term preservation of open space and the community benefits derived from it," said City Senior Planner and OVOV project manager Jason Smisko.
The areas covered at the Planning Commission Study Session for both the Conservation Element and the Open Space Element include but are not limited to historical resources, water resources, climate change, parks and open space. The OVOV Study Sessions are dedicated to continuing public participation as well as leading discussions on the draft elements of OVOV.
Information about the Conservation and Open Space Elements can be found online on the City's website at www.santa-clarita.com/vgp. City Hall is located at 23920 Valencia Blvd. For more information on this item, please contact the City Senior Planner Jason Smisko at 661-255-4306.
