City's Save Our Youth Program Presents Anti-Gang Events
Save Our Youth, an intervention program sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita's Anti-Gang Task Force, will host programs for local teens on both Tuesday, August 19th and Thursday, August 21st at the Boys and Girls Club in Canyon Country and the Community Center in Newhall, respectively. Both events, set to begin at 5:00 p.m. will feature former gang members and victims of gang violence who will share their testimonies regarding the consequences of gang involvement and the violent results.
The events and messages are focused at Santa Clarita teens, and are meant to detour and dissuade them from becoming involved in gang and violent activity. Save Our Youth is a program designed to paint a realistic picture of the negative consequences of gang involvement.
The Boys and Girls Club is located at Sierra Vista Branch, 19425 Stillmore Street in Canyon Country and the Newhall Community Center is located at 22421 Market Street in Newhall.
For more information on the above mentioned events, please contact Cynthia Llerenas, City Community Services Supervisor for Youth Outreach at (661) 255-4918.
