Canyon Country Park Now Open After Remodeling
Changes Made in Compliance with American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards
The City of Santa Clarita recently completed the Playground Upgrades Project at Canyon Country Park in Canyon Country. The Playground Upgrades Project included the replacement of play equipment and a resurfacing of the ground areas to ensure that the Canyon Country Park was up-to-date and in ordinance with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The upgrades to the park included removing and replacing the existing play equipment and installing new resilient surfacing, fencing, benches, litter receptacles and new sand. In addition, the Canyon Country Park added numerous shade canopies around the play areas.
The City's parks, recreation and planning staff worked together to provide a barrier-free, creative and interactive environment for a wide range of ability levels. The play areas were designed for children to learn together through play.
"The newly remodeled Canyon Country park was designed in such a way that it focuses on creating areas that encourage the development of essential life skills, imagination, and sense of adventure," said Rick Gould, City Director of Parks, Recreation, & Community Services.
Canyon Country Park is located at 17615 West Soledad Canyon Road. For more information on the new renovations that took place at the Canyon Country Park, please contact Denise Clark, City Project Development Coordinator at (661) 286-4148.
