Skate Park Wake Planned for Park Closure
The City's popular Skate Park at the Sports Complex will host its last set of wheels and skaters on Sunday, November 16. The Skate Park will temporarily close on Monday, November 17, in preparation for the new, highly anticipated 40,000 square foot Skate Park. The highly anticipated, state-of-the-art Skate Park will include large bowls, a Street Plaza, 'Over-vert' Capsule, a Snake Run, and much more! Skaters and their friends should look for the opening of the new Skate Park in the spring of 2009.
To commemorate the many great 'ollies, kick-flips and grinds,' the City and Active will host a special Grand Closing event, "The Wake" on Thursday, November 13, 2008, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the soon-to-be closed Skate Park. It is anticipated that hundreds of skaters will come out to show their slick-moves to be judged by sponsors, who will give out prizes and promotional items.
"We are very excited about the new and larger skatepark and look forward to our springtime opening of this amazing facility," commented Mayor Bob Kellar, City of Santa Clarita.
The Sports Complex/Skate Park is located at 20850 Centre Point Parkway. For more information, call the City at: 661- 250-3703.
