College of the Canyons Theatre Department Announces Spring Auditions
SANTA CLARITA The College of the Canyons theatre department will hold open auditions for students and community members interested in participating in the department's theatrical productions of "A Doll's House," "Noises Off" and other featured selections from the college's annual New Works Festival.
Preliminary auditions for all productions will be held from 6:45-9:30 p.m. Tuesday February 10, and Wednesday February 11, in the Performing Arts Center's Black Box Theatre, located on the Valencia campus.
Participants should only plan to attend one of the audition times, with actors expected to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to complete paperwork and sign up for an audition time slot.
Actors are asked to prepare a one- to three-minute modern or contemporary monologue for the audition, or two contrasting modern or contemporary monologues (comedic/dramatic). Monologues may total no more than three minutes, with time limits strictly observed. Actors are advised to select and edit their monologues to fit within the time limit.
However, actors without a prepared monologue are still encouraged to audition, as pieces will be made available to them at the audition reading.
Callback auditions for those selected will be held from 7-9:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, in the Black Box Theatre and/or adjoining classrooms in Pico Hall. Actors given roles in any of the productions are expected to enroll in the theatre department's Theatre 190: Theatre Production class in the spring semester.
