Cougar Guard Inks with University of the Pacific
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. College of the Canyons sophomore guard Arielle White has signed a letter of intent with the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
White, a graduate of Los Angeles Dorsey High School, averaged 10.2 points per game and 2.8 assists per game as a COC sophomore and earned All-Western State Conference honors this past season. White helped lead the College of the Canyons women's basketball team to two conference championships and a 44-19 record during her distinguished career as a Cougar.
"Arielle played an important role in our success over the past two seasons and showed dramatic progress this season, when she emerged as one of the best guards in the Western State Conference," said COC head coach Greg Herrick. "I believe she can help the University of the Pacific program solidify their guard play and will help them become more athletic at that position."
Pacific is a member of the Division I Big West Conference. The Tigers finished the 2008-2009 season with a 14-16 overall record and were 8-8 in conference play, resulting in a fourth-place finish in the Big West.
White is the 25th Cougar under Herrick's watch to earn a scholarship to a four-year program.
