COC Theatre Students to Perform in Second Spring Production
SANTA CLARITA This May, students from the college's theatre department will perform the hilarious Tony nominated comedy "Noises Off" on the main stage of the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons (PAC).
Written by Michael Frayn, "Noises Off" premiered in London in 1982, winning both the Evening Standard and the Olivier Awards for best comedy. In 1983, the production opened on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award before a subsequent Broadway revival in 2001.
Described by New York critics as "the funniest farce ever written," this uproarious comedy follows the on- and off-stage antics of an inept acting troupe as they stumble from bumbling dress rehearsal to disastrous closing night.
"Everything that can go wrong does, as actors desperately try to hang on to their lines, their performances, and the furniture," said Paul Wickline, College of the Canyons theatre department chair and director of the production. "Add a slippery plate of sardines and a slew of slamming doors and you have the most sidesplitting backstage comedy ever written."
The College of the Canyons production of "Noises Off" will open on the PAC main stage Thursday, May 7, and run through Sunday, May 10. Show times are as follows:
Thursday, May 7, at 8 p.m.
Friday, May 8, at 8 p.m.
Saturday, May 9, 8 p.m.
Sunday May 10, at 2 p.m.
Admission is $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. Group rates are available. For more ticket information please contact the PAC box office at (661) 362-5304 or visit www.canyonspac.com.
