Intel Officer from Castaic Gets Bronze Star
U.S.
Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, awarded a Bronze Star on
Monday to Capt. Gabriel G. Surratt at Veterans Historical Plaza in
Newhall.
Surratt (pictured with
SCV Chamber of Commerce Chairman Fred Arnold) said he was
honored to be able to serve with a special forces unit, and thankful his
unit sustained no casualties during its "village stability" operations.

series of changes in funding levels and practices at the county and
state during the past 6-12 months have led to reorganization and

3 Killed in Helicopter Crash at Acton Movie Ranch
A Santa
Clarita resident is among the victims of a helicopter crash that killed
three men in Acton on Sunday, a coroner's official said Monday.
David
Gene Gibbs, 59, of Valencia, Michael William Donatelli, 45, of Indiana,
Pa., and Darren Arthur Rydstrom, 46, of Whittier, were killed when their
helicopter crash-landed at the Polsa Rosa Ranch on Sunday, said Ed
