SCVTV Asks 'Friends' to Turn the Page
Is
it possible to have too many friends? Yes, if you use Facebook. The
popular social networking site caps "Friends" at 5,000 -- and we reached
that plateau more than a year ago. Over the next few weeks, we're
asking our 5,000 Facebook Friends to migrate to our nonprofit business
page, "SCVTV: Local Television for Santa Clarita," which can have
unlimited subscribers. If you want breaking news as it happens, and
to see what's new on SCVTV, you'll want to "Like" our business page. Go
to the SCVTV.com website and the Facebook icon will take you there.
Eventually we'll stop supporting our Facebook "Friend" page ("SCVTV
Santa Clarita"). |

SCVTV Is Growing!
Expanded Facility Increases Options for Production Companies
Dear Friend,
Your community television station is expanding! This month, the
SCVTV Media Center is expanding to include 880 more square feet at our
facility at the corner of 14th and Railroad in Newhall.
We've
been knocking down walls, making new doorways and tearing up old carpet
to be replaced with new flooring. The additional space will bring
SCVTV's facilities to a grand total of 3,580 square feet, enabling
us to be not only more efficient in producing local television, but
also to become a real "go to" venue for production companies looking to
rent studio and editing space and equipment.
There's plenty more going on at SCVTV, too. We've freshly revived our popular hosted
movie show, "SCV in the Movies," with two new hosts: E.J. Stephens of
the SCV Historical Society and his pal Bill West, of the Friends of Hart
Park.
"SCV
in the Movies" features movies with SCV connections, which could mean
anything from film locations to cast and crew. This weekend, it's the
latter: Who knew the schlock horror flick, "Plan 9 From Outer Space,"
had an SCV connection? It does. Its biggest star, pound for pound, was
Tor Johnson, an "eternal" resident of Newhall. He's buried just down the
hill from the mausoleum at Eternal Valley. He climbs out of the grave in Plan 9 to join Vampira in assisting some aliens in their quest to take over Planet Earth.
Or something like that.
It
was Bela Lugosi's last film - he died during production - and E.J. and
Bill go to Tor's house in Sylmar, where the principal Bela scene was
shot.
Stay
tuned! We have plenty more brewing at SCVTV, and as always you can
catch it all on Time Warner Channel 20, AT&T U-Verse 99 and
streaming and on demand at SCVTV.com, YouTube, Facebook and various other Social Media.
Sincerely,
Leon Worden SCVTV President-CEO Chairman, SCV Fourth of July Parade
