Rio TV Breaking New Ground
at Rio Norte Junior High!
Students Learn TV Production Skills from SCVTV
Dear Friend,
Lights! Camera! Action!
Rio Norte Junior High School's brand new
video production club, Rio TV, is hitting the ground running this week
as they learn just what it takes to write, direct, film and edit for
television.
More than 40 Rio Norte seventh and eighth graders
(ASB and Rio TV members) are working this week with SCVTV's staff to
produce an orientation video that will be seen by new students and
parents on the first day of school.
The orientation video will be
compiled from several small skits that will help new students and
parents understand what to expect on the first day of school.
Rio TV is led by Rio Norte science teacher Jase St. Peter.
The
program introduces junior high school students to video production
terms, techniques and practices. This year's Rio TV students will be the
first to produce a live morning announcements program at Rio Norte
Junior High School.
This
is just one part of SCVTV's ongoing efforts to help our local students
learn the media skills that can serve them well in their future
careers.
You
can always catch up on what's going on with local schools and SCVTV on
Time Warner Channel 20, AT&T U-Verse 99 and streaming and on demand
at SCVTV.com, YouTube, Facebook and various other Social Media!
Sincerely,

Leon Worden SCVTV President-CEO

Saxtravaganza Takes the Stage for
12th Year! Watch It This Week on SCVTV
Twenty one saxophonists joined on stage at the Golden Valley
High School Auditorium to perform the music of Schubert, Warlock,
Strauss, and Tasner on Sunday, July 17, at the 2011 "Saxtravaganza."
The all-saxophone
ensemble is made up musicians ranging in age from 12 to 70, and
their unique, dynamic performance is a "Must See" this week on
SCVTV. Santa Clarita's very own "saxophone lady," Kathleen Maxwell,
organizes and conducts this FREE concert every year.
Watch the 2011
Saxtravaganza on Sunday, July 24, at 11:30a and Wednesday, July 27, at
7:30p, on SCVTV, Time Warner Channel 20, AT&T U-Verse 99 and
streaming and on demand at SCVTV.com.

SCVTV Asks 'Friends' to Turn the Page
Is
it possible to have too many friends? Yes, if you use Facebook. The
popular social networking site caps "Friends" at 5,000 -- and we reached
that plateau more than a year ago. Over the next few weeks, we're
asking our 5,000 Facebook Friends to migrate to our nonprofit business
page, "SCVTV: Local Television for Santa Clarita," which can have
unlimited subscribers. If you want breaking news as it happens, and
to see what's new on SCVTV, you'll want to "Like" our business page. Go
to the SCVTV.com website and the Facebook icon will take you there.
Eventually we'll stop supporting our Facebook "Friend" page ("SCVTV
Santa Clarita"). |
