SCV Chamber of Commerce Encourages Healthy Living
Health & Wellness Fair Offers Free Screenings and Education
VALENCIA, CA (November 11, 2008) The Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will host its first Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event, which is free to the community, will be held at College of the Canyons.
More than 30 healthcare professionals and businesses have joined the Chamber's Health Care Committee to plan the event. Its purpose is to heighten community awareness of healthcare resources and education available in the Santa Clarita Valley.
"Our community has grown tremendously, and many people are unaware of the multitude of services available close to home," says Sidney Nicholas, chairman for the SCV Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee. "The fair is a joint effort between the Chamber and businesses to promote the local healthcare industry and create a positive economic impact throughout the Santa Clarita Valley."
The Health & Wellness Fair will feature the following: FREE health screenings, health and fitness vendors with information and give-aways, chiropractic screenings, and much more. Healthcare professionals will also be on hand to answer questions and provide mini health education lectures.
"We're hoping the whole community will join us to take advantage of the healthy learning opportunities and become better educated on a variety of health-related issues," reported Nancy Coulter, American Cancer Society volunteer and event chair of the Health and Wellness Fair.
The 2009 Health & Wellness Fair signature sponsor is Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. Additional sponsorship opportunities are available: $500 Bronze; $1,000 Silver; $2,500 Gold; and $5,000 Platinum. Sponsorship folders can be picked up at the Chamber reception desk.
Vendor tables are available for $150 (SCV Chamber members) and $250 (non-members). Vendor fees are waived for sponsors.
Healthcare professionals and businesses are encouraged to contact the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber to learn more about sponsorship and vendor opportunities. To receive information, contact Nichole Swanson at 661-702-6977 ext. 424 or send an email to nswanson@scvchamber.com.
