SCV Deputies Searching for Shooting Suspect
Thursday, January 01, 2009, 4:50 a.m. — Unincorporated Los Angeles County — Canyon Country:

Public assistance sought — Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station's Robbery and Assault team are seeking public assistance in locating Seferino Benjamin Grajeda, MH/30, who is wanted in connection with a shooting incident following a domestic related argument in the 18000 block of Grace Lane, Canyon Country, early New Year's morning.
Deputies were called to Los Angeles County Fire Department Station #107, Canyon Country, where firefighters and paramedics were treating the victim, MH/47, for a single gunshot wound to the upper torso. Deputies learned that a domestic argument involving the shooting victim's daughter and the suspect, her former boyfriend and father of their children, preceded the shooting incident on Grace Lane. Because the domestic argument was escalating, the victim had come to the location to get his daughter and the children out of harms way. Once at the location, the victim interceded between them while his daughter and grandchildren were taken to an awaiting car. At some point during the incident the suspect reportedly brandished a handgun and shot the victim one time in the upper torso.
Suspect Grajeda then fled the scene in a newer model burgundy colored Cadillac Escalade with paper license plates and his whereabouts are unknown. The daughter immediately drove her father (the victim) to the fire station where he was treated and transported to a local area hospital. His current condition is not available, but the wound is not believed to be life threatening. No one else was injured during the incident.
A $1.5 million felony warrant for Attempted Murder, Assault with a Deadly Weapon-Firearm, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm has been issued by the Santa Clarita Valley Superior Court for the arrest of Seferino Grajeda. In addition to the Canyon Country address, suspect Grajeda has a last known address in the 10000 block of Onida Street, Pacoima.
**Note: Suspect Grajeda is believed to be armed with a silver colored semi-automatic handgun. He should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or the vehicle described above, do not approach or confront him. Immediately dial 911 and deputies will respond.
Anyone with information regarding this crime or the whereabouts of Seferino Benjamin Grajeda, is asked to immediately dial 9-1-1 or contact the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 255-1121. Press inquiries should be directed to Sergeant Harris of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 799-5814. Please do not contact the detective directly unless you have information pertaining to the crimes.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time. -ref 00012
