On Wednesday, February 4, 2009, at 9:45 a.m., deputies responded to Ricky's Liquor located at 18520 Soledad Canyon Road, Canyon Country, to reports of an armed robbery. Deputies determined that an adult male allegedly entered the business, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The suspect fled the location after obtaining an undisclosed amount of United States Currency.
During the continuing investigation, detectives were able to identify a vehicle the suspect was believed to be driving. The description of the vehicle was briefed to all patrol deputies. An immediate operation was launched utilizing the team members and resources outlined above. At 1:00 p.m. yesterday afternoon, the suspect, later identified as Jaime Gonzalez, MH/35, of Canyon Country, returned to the vehicle and he was taken into custody without incident following a traffic stop. After the arrest, detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station wrote and served a search warrant in the 18400 block of Jakes Way in direct connection with this case.
