SCV Deputies Nab Assault Suspect
Tuesday April 28, 2009 9:46 a.m. Saugus
Assault suspect doesn't get far Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station responded to reports of a stabbing in the 27000 block of Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus, this morning. An altercation occurred between two juveniles in a classroom at the United Methodist Church. One of the juveniles, MW/16, of Valencia brandished a knife and reportedly slashed the other juvenile, MW/17, of Saugus at least two times. The attack apparently stemmed from a previous altercation between the two juveniles nearly a year ago.
The suspect/subject juvenile fled the area on foot as deputies were called in. Deputies quickly arrived in the area and one of them spotted the subject running through the Bouquet Center in the 26500 block of Bouquet Canyon Road. The subject was taken into custody without incident. Deputies report that they recovered a knife in the bushes that they believe was used in the crime.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the church and treated the victim before transporting him to a local hospital. The wounds were described as non-life threatening. The victim's current condition is not known.
The subject was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony charges of Attempted Murder. He is scheduled to be transferred to Sylmar Juvenile Hall where he will be held without bail pending future court proceedings. The incident does not appear to be gang related.
Anyone with any information regarding this incident should immediately contact Detective Dan Finn, (661) 799-5153, of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's COBRA Team. The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time. -ref 07209
