Two Burglars Arrested in Saugus
Thursday, June 04, 2009 11:04 a.m.
Another Santa Clarita resident helped out a neighbor this morning. The resident saw two juveniles knock on the door of a residence in the 20500 block of Nickie Lane, Saugus and then enter the backyard after not getting an answer at the door. Deputies immediately converged on the area and set up a containment. One of the deputies spotted two individuals, matching the description of those in the call, walking just blocks away on Rogers Drive and detained them.
Through further investigation deputies determined the two individuals, both 17-year-old males and residents of Saugus, were in possession of a backpack containing a Sony PlayStation, a camera, and alcohol the deputies believe was stolen from the nearby residence. Deputies responded to the residence on Nickie Lane and found the juvenile subjects had apparently entered through an unlocked rear door. They saw the area where the items had been taken from. The homeowner was contacted and alerted about the crime, ultimately confirming information for the deputies.
Both juveniles were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on a felony charge of Burglary and a misdemeanor charge of Minor in Possession of Alcohol. They were later released on a citation pending future court proceedings.
