SCV Sheriff: 'National Night Out' Against Crime
Tuesday, August 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station will host a 'National Night Out' Against Crime event at the Newhall Community Center located at 22421 Market Street, Newhall on Tuesday, August 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.
Sponsored for the last 25 years by the National Association of Town Watch, 'National Night Out' is a nationwide event in which over 11,000 communities participate to promote community safety. The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station looks at the event as a wonderful opportunity to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local crime prevention efforts and programs, and send a message that our neighborhoods and residents are organized and vigilant.
"It is the strong partnership between emergency services and our residents that makes the City of Santa Clarita and the Santa Clarita Valley such a great and safe place to live, work, and play," said Captain Anthony La Berge of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. "We look to continue our efforts and strengthen our public safety commitment, and we hope you will bring your families out and join us!" He added.
This year's event will feature the Sheriff's Posse, Mcgruff the crime dog, crafts, games, the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Search and Rescue Team, the Los Angeles County Fire Department, and child fingerprinting services. Refreshments will also be provided.
Residents, business leaders, community representatives, and media professionals are invited and encouraged to attend the event.
For additional information regarding the event, contact Deputy Laurie Baylis at (661) 799-5164 or Sergeant Gregg Lewison at (661) 799-5158. For information pertaining to this release contact Sergeant Darren Harris at (661) 799-5814.
