SCV Deputies Protect the Streets as Most Residents Sleep
Tuesday — July 15, 2008 — 1:10 a.m. — Newhall: Commit Crime? Not in the Santa Clarita Valley — Deputies arrested four individuals on drug related charges Tuesday after conducting an early morning traffic stop near 2nd Street and Arch Street, Newhall.
The deputies report that during the traffic stop they determined that three individuals they contacted were on probation and one was on felony parole. Further investigation resulted in the recovery of methamphetamine, marijuana, counterfeit United States Currency, a significant amount of United States Currency, and items commonly used in the sale and distribution of narcotics.
All four suspects, MW/28 of Valley Center, FW/25 of Saugus, MW/25 of Newhall, and MW/42 of Newhall were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. They each face potential felony charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance for Sale, and misdemeanor charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance.
Three are being held in lieu of $15,000 bail and one later posted bond and was released pending future court proceedings. The suspects names have not yet been released pending additional investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department's Narcotics Bureau — Santa Clarita Division.
