Castaic Man Stops Vandalism
Saturday, July 18, 2009 - 3:19 a.m. - Unincorporated Los Angeles County - Castaic
Three Castaic men are behind bars today after an apparent vandalism crime spree involving at least 30 parked vehicles in the Castaic area. Deputies responded to the 28500 block of Gibraltar Lane, Castaic, to reports that three young adults were breaking car mirrors using a baseball bat. When deputies arrived they were contacted by a Castaic resident who had followed the suspects to the location. He said he heard a loud bang coming from in front of his house. When he looked outside he saw the three in a white compact car breaking a car mirror. The alert resident ran outside and followed the suspects while contacting the Sheriff's Station. Deputies arrived and after further investigation the three were arrested. Deputies report they recovered a baseball bat they believe was used in the crime spree. Deputies report that the side-view mirrors were smashed and shattered on all the vehicles.
All three men, Christopher Miller, MW/19; Alex Onate, MH/20; and Nicholas Connell, MW/20 were arrested on felony Vandalism charges and were booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. They are each being held in lieu of $100,000 bail pending future court proceedings. They are due in court tomorrow.
