Fatal Traffic Collision — Santa Clarita
Thursday, September 25, 2008 — 8:05 a.m. — Santa Clarita:
A fatal traffic collision occurred on Kelly Johnson Parkway at Rye Canyon Loop in Santa Clarita this morning. Juan Garcia Zavala, M/24, of Canyon Country was riding a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle and was traveling northbound on Kelly Johnson Parkway in the number two lane. Zavala apparently struck another vehicle, 1986 Peterbilt Dump Truck and trailer which was driven by Misak Vardanyan, M/55, of Van Nuys, who was exiting a driveway from a construction site.
Zavala was treated at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department and was pronounced dead as a result of injuries he suffered in the collision.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Traffic Office is continuing their investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident should contact Detective Smoldt of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station at (661) 799-5111. There is no further information at this time.
