Burglary Suspects Identified One Day After Web Posting
Commit Crime? Not in the Santa Clarita Valley Detectives from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station Burglary and Theft team posted a Special Bulletin on the SCVSheriff.com Web site Wednesday in hopes of getting public help in identifying suspects who were being sought for questioning only, in connection with a burglary incident in Newhall. The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9th, 2008, between 12:20 and 1:40 p.m. at the Homeros Gift Shop at 23413 Lyons Avenue, Newhall. View initial Press Release here.
Local media outlets who ran the information, and Santa Clarita Valley residents came through in a big way for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Less then 24 hours after the public posting, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Detectives received a call from an anonymous tipster who positively identified the primary suspect in the case as Jonathan William Maier, MW/18, of Canyon Country. Detectives were also able to identify the two other individuals listed in the initial post and through further investigation they determined they were not involved with the Burglary. After the suspect was identified, detectives were able to obtain information on a second man, Kevin Anthony Voytish, MW/20, of Valencia, who is being sought for questioning in connection with the case. Detectives were also able to determine that Maier is the primary suspect in a second incident, which is a Robbery that occurred on the same date of the Burglary in the parking lot of the Vallarta Market at 23449 Lyons Avenue, Newhall (-ref 16116). During that incident a woman was assaulted and her purse was stolen.
Both suspects are outstanding and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station is now seeking public assistance in determining their whereabouts.
