Robbery Suspects in Custody
October 21, 2008, Tuesday — Saugus
Commit Crime? Not in the Santa Clarita Valley — Arrests have been made in the robbery of four area teenagers which occurred on Friday, October 17, 2008, at 10:15 p.m. Megan Draper, F/19, of Saugus, and Chad Garza, M/19, of Saugus were arrested today at their respective homes. The detectives were able to piece together the circumstances of the crime from witness and victim interviews.
    On Friday night, the victims drove to the apartments at Bridgeport Lane and McBean Parkway, Valencia, where they were confronted by the three suspects. Booth and Garza were holding guns and Draper held a crow bar. They demanded that the victims give up their wallets. Two wallets, personal identification belonging to the victims, and $500 were taken in the robbery.
    Suspect Matthew Booth, M/18, of Valencia was arrested Friday night after he was seen leaving a party in the 28200 block of Oak Springs Canyon Road. He was arraigned today on two counts of Robbery and is in the custody of the Los Angeles County Jail.
    Draper is being held at Santa Clarita Valley Station in lieu of $50,000 bail, she was arrested for Robbery. Garza is being held at Santa Clarita Valley Station in lieu of $100,000 bail, he was arrested for Robbery and Assault with a Firearm.
    The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information available at this time. -ref 18564
