SCV Sheriff's Booster Club Lightens the Load on Santa Clarita Deputies
SCV Sheriffs — Better Equipped to Protect You
Did you know that virtually every deputy working patrol and protecting the residents of the Santa Clarita Valley carries several items of equipment every shift to help those in need and enforce the law?
That's right, deputies have several standard safety and enforcement items that are issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and are worn on a daily basis. These items can weigh up to 25 pounds.
In addition to these standard issue items, most deputies choose to purchase and carry up to 100 pounds of additional equipment with them every day while patrolling our streets, neighborhoods, shopping centers, and schools. This additional equipment better prepares the deputies to protect the public and respond to emergencies, threats, and natural disasters. First aid kits, CPR masks, high power flashlights, bolt cutters, legal reference guides, fire preparedness equipment, and crowd control gear are just some of the additional items deputies carry.
Recently, thanks to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station's Booster Club, and the generous supportive members of our community, the additional load just got much easier to manage. The Booster Club recently purchased 120 full-size equipment lockers at a cost of more than $50,000. These large equipment lockers (pictured here) have been installed at the station and are easily accessible to the deputies and their patrol cars.
The SCV Sheriff's Booster Club was organized under the laws of the State of California and exists as a non-profit public benefit corporation. The organization was formed in 1984 and was created by local citizens whose desire was to assist the local law enforcement effort in a tangible way.
Since that time, this volunteer organization has purchased equipment and provided help in accomplishing the law enforcement mission in the Santa Clarita Valley. In addition to providing much needed police equipment and crime prevention materials, the funds raised by the Booster Club help the Civilian Volunteer, Law Enforcement Explorer and Reserve Deputy Programs at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station. Some items the Booster Club has purchased are:
    • Numerous Computers and Computer Equipment
    • Narcotics Vehicle (Under cover)
    • Bicycle Patrol Uniforms and Bike Pump
    • Gym Equipment
    • Donations to Baker to Vegas Relay Race
    • Search and Rescue Vehicle painting
    • Halloween Trick or Treat bags for community
    • Fingerprinting Equipment
    • Drunk Driving Trailer
    • Training Video Equipment
    • Radio equipment for Volunteers on Patrol
    • Child ID kits
    • Search and Rescue Radios
    • Search and Rescue Aircraft Direction Finders
    • "McGruff" costume and coloring books
    • Explorer trips and competitions
    • Night Scopes
    • Helicopter Equipment
    • Posse Donations
    • Reserve Company Donations
    • Women's Self Defense Classes and Equipment

These are only a fraction of the total donations generously provided by the Booster Club and our supporters. Their efforts provide the Deputies, Reserves, Explorers and Volunteers with equipment and support that makes a difficult job that much easier. For additional information about the SCV Sheriff's Booster Club or donation information, contact Sergeant Gregg Lewison or Deputy Pat Rissler at (661) 255-1121.
