McKeon, McCarthy Condolence Statements on F-22 Fighter Jet Accident
WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, Reps. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (CA-25) and Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) issued the following statements for test pilot Dave Cooley who passed away after his F-22A fighter jet crashed on a test mission from Edwards Air Force Base:
Congressman Buck McKeon:
"I was deeply saddened when I learned of the tragic F-22A Raptor crash and heartbreaking loss of the pilot's life. The pilot, David Cooley, 49, was highly regarded in his field and a 21-year veteran of the United States Air Force. This was a terrible loss for Edwards Air Force Base, Lockheed Martin, the military, and of course his family. My thoughts and prayers go to his family and my gratitude to him for his lifelong service to our country."
Congressman Kevin McCarthy:
"I am saddened by the news of the death of Dave Cooley. As a twenty-one year veteran of the Air Force and a test pilot since 2003, he dedicated his life to protecting our country and the testing of cutting-edge technology to help strengthen our national security. We are all grateful for his service and sacrifice to our country. My thoughts and prayers are with the Cooley family during this difficult time."
