McKeon Statement on the 7th Anniversary of the September 11th Terrorist Attacks
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-Santa Clarita) issued the following statement in preparation for the seventh anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks:
"Seven years ago, our nation was viciously attacked by terrorists and thousands of innocent lives were lost. That fateful day will live on as a day that changed the way Americans viewed themselves and viewed the world around them. It brought a doctrine of terror to our soil and made the world a much smaller place to live. Since 9-11, Congress pledged to help protect the American people from any future attacks, and thanks to our men and women in uniform, we haven’t seen another attack on our soil since that day.
"We live in the greatest nation in the world, and we must commit ourselves to safeguarding the freedoms and liberties that make America so unique. The memory of the lives that were sacrificed on September 11, 2001 will never fade; indeed, they serve as a reminder that it is our duty to protect the future of our nation against the threat of terror and the tyranny of radicalism."
