Santa Clarita Resident Designs Ornament for White House
WASHINGTON, D.C. Santa Clarita resident and artist Celeste Korthase was selected to design and present a Christmas tree ornament to represent the 25th Congressional District of California. Her ornament is among the 435 individual pieces that adorn a large tree in the White House. Thousands of visitors have been visiting the White House this season for a glimpse at this year’s Red, White, and Blue patriotic holiday theme.
Korthase recently attended a reception at the White House where she met the other artists from around the country and where the Christmas tree was unveiled.
Korthase owns and operates a multimedia paint studio in Santa Clarita and has been an artist for nearly 30 years. One of her specialties is restaurant design, where she decorates everything from chairs and tables to boots that are displayed. Some of her work was recently auctioned at a benefit for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
